- Single Paragraph Analysis: This is your standard close textual analysis prompt. Develop a close reading, exploring your interpretation and thoughts about a single paragraph or stanza (~6 lines of text) from one of our texts. You should quote the entire paragraph or stanza at the top of your response, and then do a close reading that highlights both the language used and concepts developed in the quote. Then, relate the meaning of the quote to the text as a whole and/or to the major concepts and themes explored in the text/author. The quote from the text at the top of your paper does not count toward your total length.
- Double-Spaced and MLA formatting or similar formatting (Chicago, APA).
- 2 pages (at least halfway down the second page as a minimum
- The response is successfully completed and fulfills the requirements of the specific prompt chosen
- The response follows the spirit of the prompt, without spending excessive time on summarizing the plot
