Using pages 11-17 in the book Write and Wrong as a guide, write a Problem Statement.

The length of the statement should be similar to the sample statement on page 17, which is about a 1/2 page single-spaced or 1 page double-spaced. the purpose of the capstone research paper is to provide the reader with a synopsis of a problem or critical issue in US crime control/criminal justice, what we know about the pre-existing policies that are causing or contributing to one of the problems or issues, and what alternative policy options are viable options.

you need to locate, understand, and be able to articulate a problem, of which there are many, sadly.

For a stronger problem statement, it is beneficial to include concrete information or statistics that illustrate the severity of the problem.

Next, using pages 10, 22, and 45 in the book Write and Wrong as a guide, write a Thesis Statement for your Capstone Research Paper.

The length of the statement only needs to be 1-2 sentences. Please explicitly state which sentence is your thesis statement.

The thesis statement should contain 2 elements: 1) the debatable policy/issue you will be discussing 2) the argument/solution you will be making in your paper.

Locate and download at least two journal articles, book chapters, or books using the research map instructions in Unit 2 in the Write & Wrong book. Under your thesis statement, write the title and authors of the two (or more) sources, or if you know how to do it, write the full reference list of both sources in APA format
