Develop or adapt a unit of work relevant for a specific context that integrates Catholic Social Teaching across the general curriculum.
Weighting: 60%
Length and/or format: 2,000 original words (excludes exiting material in unit of work)
Purpose: The purpose of this task is to demonstrate your skill in embedding a faith-based perspective across the general curriculum.

Return of assignment: On time submissions will be returned via Turnitin three weeks after due date ( if submitted on time)

Drawing on your learnings from EDCE601, choose one of the following:
A. Adapt a unit of work for a specific context. This unit must integrate a particular aspect of
Catholic Social Teaching. Your submission should include: – a description of the unit of work highlighting the school context, discipline area, planned learning experiences, texts and resources to be used – implications for pedagogy and assessment – proposals for addressing the associated challenges – rationale for choices made.
Note: The unit should be grounded in an area/s other than Religious Education although it might
have a link to Religious Education.
OR
B. Design a unit of work for a specific context. This unit must integrate a particular aspect of Catholic Social Teaching. Your submission should include: – a description of the unit of work highlighting the school context, discipline area, planned learning experiences, texts and resources to be used – implications for pedagogy and assessment – proposals for addressing the associated challenges
– rationale for choices made.
Note: The unit should be grounded in an area/s other than Religious Education although it might
have a link to Religious Education.
OR
C. Propose and justify strategies for the integration of a particular aspect of Catholic Social
Teaching into your curriculum planning over the duration of a school term. Your
submission should include: – information regarding subject area(s)and class groups included in your planning – particular aspects of Catholic social teaching to be integrated – proposed integration strategies – implications for pedagogy and assessment – rationale for choices made.
Note: curriculum planning here refers to aspects of the formal curriculum other than RE.
OR
D. Starting from a social justice perspective, evaluate the formal and hidden curriculum (or
curricula) of your school or setting. In an essay, identify the implications of your analysis for
both the hidden curriculum and the content, pedagogy, assessment of the formal curriculum.
Your response should include: – an evaluation of the formal school curriculum from a social justice perspective
with supporting evidence – an evaluation of the hidden curriculum of your school from a social justice
perspective with supporting evidence – proposals for changes to the school’s hidden curriculum (where required) – implications for pedagogy and assessment.
