Write a memo that organizes the analysis of the technical document called “Composting for the Home Gardener” in both a logical and convincing way (the professor is the audience, not the author of the document). Follow the format for writing memos:
• Be concrete in your analysis. Use examples from the document as you make your key points.
Be sure to analyze and not just describe the document. This will require you toevaluate—and pass judgment on—both content and design.
Be sure your analysis is well organized.
The memo has to include the following analysis points:
Addresses particular readers
Helps readers solve problems
Reflects an organization’s goals and culture
Is produced collaboratively
Uses design to increase readability
Consists of words or images or both
Use these characteristics to organize your analysis. Be sure that your analysis addresses each of these areas.
Please make sure the Evaluation Criteria is met:
Completeness. The analysis addresses the six characteristics of technical communication.
Organization. The analysis is well organized. It has a clear structure supported by headings.
Support. The analysis is concrete, using examples from the document to support major points.
Interpretation. The analysis interprets, analyzes, passes judgment—it does not just describe.
Style and Grammar. The analysis is well written. Topic sentences are clear. The analysis is free of grammatical and proofreading errors.
I will be providing samples of OTHER technical documents and their sample memos as a guide.
