POLICY BRIEF PAPER
3 page papers will generally include several the following components (3 pages or 5-7 pages double spaced)
Issue statement: What is the policy issue (i.e., the problem that needs to be solved by the government)? Who is the audience? What does the audience need to know?
Background: Why is it an issue? Who is affected? What legislation/regulations/programs have to be taken into account? Which groups have an active interest in this issue and what are their views?
Analysis: What are the main options for addressing this issue? What are the pros and cons (costs and benefits) of each option?
Recommendation: Which option do you recommend? Why?
References: Cite the sources of key arguments and evidence using APA or AMA format.

POLICY BRIEF EVALUATION: (SEE THE SCORING RUBRIC FOR MORE DETAILS)
Your paper will be evaluated on the following:
Content: how accurately does it reflect the information found without using the authors’ words verbatim
Writing style: are you using a scientific (e.g., objective) voice?
Writing grammar, structure: do you maintain tense? What about strong topic sentences and avoidance of indefinite pronouns?
Citation and Referencing: Did you use either AMA or APA style format
Requirements: 3 pages
