The human ecology topic from my research paper focuses on the relationship between human populations and the natural environment. Specifically, it examines how human activities such as urbanization, industrialization, and deforestation are impacting the environment and the implications of these impacts for human health and well-being.

Prior to my research, my mental model of this topic was that human population growth and development were mainly responsible for the degradation of the environment. However, through my research, I was presented with a different perspective based on factual information. I learned that while human population growth and development do have an impact on the environment, it is not the only factor. Other factors such as economic and political systems, cultural values, and societal attitudes also play a role in shaping human-environment relationships. Additionally, I also learned that there are many efforts and initiatives that are being undertaken to mitigate the negative impacts of human activities on the environment, and promote sustainable development.

Generally,  my mental model on the topic of human ecology has been altered by the presentation of a different perspective based on factual information. I now have a more nuanced understanding of the complexities and interrelatedness of human-environment relationships, and the importance of considering various factors and approaches in addressing environmental challenges.
