Respond to the following:
I believe Andrew Jackson would consider himself a success. His presidency left the U.S. with a big impact that would change history for better or for worse. Andrew Jackson did many things such as sign the Indian Removal Act in 1830. This act basically forced Native Americans off their own land. This eventually created the Trail of Tears, which was the movement of about 5 Native tribes. There tribes were told to leave America and told to go anywhere else but America. This left a tremendous impact on the Native population, but also Jackson as well. Jackson now seemed that his presidency was unethical as he forced other people off their land that they owned and controlled. I think Jackson would still think he made a conscious and right decision but the overwhelmingly majority of people think that Jackson committed a crime. As of 2018, About 59 percent of Americans believe Jackson committed genocide against the Natives (Inbody 2018). Others like Parton, believed that Jackson did more good than bad. To be more specific, he thinks Jackson had little to no responsibility of his actions because it is the citizens fault for electing him as president (Morse 155). I believe this is a very manipulative and irresponsible way of thinking.
