Survey five to 10 friends, family members, co-workers and/or classmates. Ask this question: “Please tell me the single crime/disorder issue you think is the greatest problem within your community that you’d like the police/sheriff to address.” (If needed, you can use ideas from the three-column list below of selected crime/disorder issues).
Create a list with the persons you surveyed. Include only their first and last-name initials along with their response.
From your list, determine the pressing contemporary issue. This will be the response that appears the most on your list. If there is no response that appears the most, you decide from the responses provided the issue you want to focus on for this submission.
Review the Center for Problem Orientated Policing POP Guides tab to determine if the issue has been addressed and written about in a POP Guide. https://popcenter.asu.edu/pop-guides
Write a unique Five Point Plan to address the issue. The Five Point Plan will be five separate and unique solutions to address the issue. The Five Point Plan must be an original submission, written in your own words. The Five Point Plan must incorporate concepts of community policing and problem orientated policing.
If there is a POP Guide for your issue, use the POP Guide (and a reference for the POP Guide) to help develop a solution you incorporate in your Five Point Plan.
In your Five Point Plan, you must make it very clear how you are incorporating concepts of community orientated policing and problem orientated policing.
