Required task:
• Design the following part in Fusion 360 (A=10 in, B=12 in, C=1 in, D=6 in). This part will be the
‘Starting shape’ for Generative design
• Do not change resolution under ‘Study Settings’
• The part is completely fixed at the bottom surface
• On the inner surface of the cylinder apply a pressure of 1450 psi acting in upwards direction (red
arrow in the figure)
• ‘Preserve geometry’ will be based on above constraints
• ‘Obstacle geometry’ will be based on requirement that there should be no material beyond the
back face, the bottom face of the part and right in front of rib (refer the figures on next page)
• Design objective is to minimize mass with Safety factor limit of 2.0
• Under manufacturing select ‘Unrestricted’ & ‘Additive’ and remove other selections such as
‘Milling’ and other
• Under materials select ‘Aluminum 6061’ and ‘Stainless steel’
• Generate the study (Ignore the warnings)
• For this section submit the screenshot of one best design iteration from two cases (i.e. one for
Aluminum and one for Steel) and justify the reason as to why you think this is the best design
iteration. In total 2 screenshots and justification for each.
