Intersectional analysis considers the ways in which multiple dimensions of identity, such as race, gender, class, and sexuality, intersect and shape experiences and outcomes. This approach can lead to a more nuanced and complete understanding of certain topics, issues, or groups of people by taking into account the unique and complex ways that different aspects of identity interact and impact an individual’s experiences. Intersectional analysis can help to challenge and disrupt dominant narratives and frameworks that may only consider one aspect of identity and can highlight the ways in which systems of oppression intersect and reinforce one another. This leads to a more comprehensive and inclusive understanding of the experiences and perspectives of individuals and communities that may otherwise be marginalized or erased.
